Postcomm's Strategy Review

Postcomm has been asking for views on the future of postal services in the UK. The responses received will help us frame our regulatory strategy in the lead up to 2010 and beyond.  The Strategy Review is being undertaken to ensure that Postcomm has a regulatory framework that is best suited to deliver its vision for the UK postal market consistent with its statutory duties.

Our first consultation document, published on 9 August 2006, sought views from all interested parties – domestic customers, Royal Mail, other postal operators, major business users, suppliers, small businesses and customer groups. Their responses, together with targeted research, will form the basis of a review by Postcomm of its regulatory strategy.

During the consultation, Postcomm held individual meetings with interested parties and in October 2006 we hosted a seminar in London on the future of mail services. The event was chaired by Lord O’Neill of Clackmannan, who until last year was Chairman of the House of Commons Trade and Industry Committee.

On 23 August 2007, we published a further document, outlining emerging themes from the review so far. That document is open to consultation, and, once we have considered responses to it, we plan to issue a set of proposals early in 2008.

If you would like to meet Postcomm to discuss any of the issues raised by this review or have any questions please contact James Francey (email link).
