Licensing - DHL Global Mail (UK) Limited
On 29 December 2006, Postcomm issued a new licence to DHL Global Mail (UK) Limited. The licence came into effect on 1 January 2007. On 4 January 2007, two licenses - for Deutsche Post Global Mail (UK) Limited and Speedmail International Limited - were revoked. Postal business carried on under those licences has continued under the licence for DHL Global Mail (UK) Limited.
On 24 November 2006, we began a 30 day consultation on the proposed issue of a new long term licence to Mercury International Limited. The closing date for responses was 24 December 2006. Mercury International Limited was renamed DHL Global Mail (UK) Limited with effect from 1 January 2007.
Under the new licensing framework that took effect from 1 January 2006, DHL Global Mail's licence:
- allows it to provide all types of postal service;
- is issued for a rolling ten-year period;
- requires the company to comply with codes of practice on mail integrity (safety and security of the mail) and common operational procedures (designed to ensure the multi-operator market works well in practice).
Printed copies of documents are available from Postcomm at Hercules House, 6 Hercules Road, London, SE1 7DB.
