Licensing - London Underground Limited

On 15 July 2003, by virtue of the London Regional Transport (Transport for London) Transfer Scheme 2003 made pursuant to Section 409 of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 (the GLA Act), the entire issued share capital of London Underground Limited was transferred to Transport Trading Limited, which is part of the TfL Group. London Regional transport was dissolved on 16 July 2003 by virtue of an order made by the Secretary of State pursuant to Section 302 of the GLA Act.

On 6 October 2003, Postcomm confirmed that, as a consequence, the services provided by LUL now fall within Section 7(2)(i) of the Postal Services Act, as LUL has a business interest in the mail it delivers. Therefore, the services are exempt and the licence ceases to have effect.
