Postcomm welcomes new chair of Postwatch

Postcomm chairman Nigel Stapleton welcomed today’s appointment by the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry of Millie Banerjee as national chair of Postwatch, the consumer body for postal services.

He said: “We look forward to working with Millie and her team as we enter an important new phase. With full market opening set for 1 January 2006 it is essential that Postwatch and Postcomm work together to the benefit of all postal users.”

Mr Stapleton acknowledged the work of Peter Carr, the outgoing chairman of Postwatch, who laid the foundation for Postwatch’s work on behalf of mail customers.

Ms Banerjee will take up her post on 1 December 2005.
