Postcomm consults on a long term licence for Red Star Parcels

8 July 2005

Postcomm, the independent regulator for postal services, today began a 30 day consultation on the proposed issue of a long term licence to Red Star Parcels Ltd, to provide consolidation services (collection and sorting of mail).

Red Star Parcels Ltd is owned by Lynx Express Limited and would trade as Lynx Mail.

Printed copies of the consultation document and proposed licence are available from Postcomm at 6 Hercules Road, London, SE1 7DB.

Notes for Editors

Postcomm is minded, subject to consultation, to grant a licence to Red Star. We believe the proposed services will further the interests of postal services users by promoting competition between postal operators, and that it will have no adverse effect on the provision of a universal postal service in the United Kingdom.
