Postcomm grants an interim licence to TPG Post UK Ltd
24 September 2002
Postcomm today granted a short-term postal licence to TPG Post UK Ltd, a subsidiary of TPG NV, the Dutch postal operator.
The licence will enable the company to pilot the provision of bulk mail and consolidation services for the collection, conveyance and delivery of mail from businesses to households. The licence limits the number of items to be carried to 20 million a year – about one quarter of the items Royal Mail handles in a day.
Notes for Editors
Interim licences normally last for 12 months. TPG Post UK has also applied for a standard licence – which lasts a minimum of seven years. Standard licences will not come into effect before 1 January 2003.
Copies are available from Postcomm at 6 Hercules Road, London SE1 7DB.
