Postcomm adds tracked business mail to standard licence
23 December 2002
Postcomm today added tracked business-to-business mail services to the competitive postal market. Postal operators wishing to provide such services will be able to apply for a licence from Postcomm.
The standard postal licence which will enable competing companies to offer business mail services in competition with Royal Mail, will come into operation on 1 January 2003. The licences will cover bulk mail, consolidation services, and enhanced document exchange services. The addition of tracked business-to-business services will enable licensees to offer a range of customised business services.
Notes for editors
Tracked business-to-business services are specialist mail services which provide for overnight guaranteed delivery of business communications, tracking and tracing of individual items and confirmation of delivery.
Today’s decision document, Licences under the Postal Services Act 2000: A further defined activity of tracked business-to-business services, can be found in the Licensing Policy consultation page.
