Postcomm consults on interim licence for cross-border postal collection services

10 May 2001

Postcomm today began consultation on the proposed issue of two short term licences to TNT UK Limited, a company with existing, niche, value-added postal services.

The company provides internal mail services for a customer in the banking sector and a guaranteed next day delivery mail service to members of a closed user group comprising a company in the financial services sector and its customers. The proposed licences will last for one year, and are intended to cover existing activities until Postcomm has finalised its longer term licensing policy.

The consultation and text of the proposed licences can be obtained from Postcomm at 6 Hercules Road, London SE1 7DB.

Notes for Editors

The two proposed licences are as follows:
For TNT UK Limited one licence for each of two contracts where value-added mail services are provided to two clients in the banking and financial services sectors.
