Speedmail International Limited was granted a long term licence (pdf, 363KB) on 1 January 2006. The licence takes into account the new licensing arrangements that came into effect on 1 January 2006, when the UK mail market was fully opened to competition.
Under the new licensing arrangements:
- Speedmail International Limited must comply with the mail integrity code and common operational procedures code
- licensed area mail carried by Speedmail International Limited must, unless exempted, carry a unique mail identification code, marking Speedmail International Limited as the licensed operator responsible for carrying it
