Deutsche Post was granted a long term licence (pdf, 330KB) on 16 February 2006. The licence takes into account the new licensing arrangements that came into effect on 1 January 2006, when the UK mail market was opened to full competition.
Under the new licensing arrangements:
- Deutsche Post Global Mail (UK) Limited must comply with the mail integrity code and common operational procedures code.
- licensed area mail carried by Deutsche Post Global Mail (UK) Limited must, unless exempted, carry a unique mail identification code, marking Deutsche post Global Mail (UK) Limited as the licensed operator responsible for carrying it.
