Postal legislation

Postal Services Act 2000. This is the key piece of legislation affecting Postcomm's work. The Act set up Postcomm as a statutory body and paved the way for us to develop the policies that introduced full competition to the UK mail market from 1 January 2006.

1997 Postal Services Directive (as amended). Legislative developments here in the UK are well ahead of those in any other European Union country. But all European states are covered by the 1997 Postal Services Directive (as amended) which sets out common rules governing the provision of postal services across Europe.
