Tony Cooper, commissioner
Tony Cooper was appointed commissioner on 1 June 2000 and has been reappointed several times. His most recent extension runs from 1 June 2009 to 31 March 2010.
He combines his work for Postcomm with roles as:
- chair of the board of the Combined Nuclear Pension Trustees Ltd,
- chair of the board of Magnox Group of the Electricity Supply Pension Scheme,
- a member of the board of trustees of the British Nuclear Fuels Group pension scheme, and
- non-executive director of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority
Mr Cooper is the former joint general secretary of Prospect, the union for engineers, scientists, managers, professionals and specialists. He has also been a member of the General Council of the TUC, a chair of the Nuclear Industry Association, a Forestry Commissioner and a member of the Department for Trade and Industry Strategy Board. He was general secretary of the Engineers and Managers Association for ten years and, before that, the deputy general secretary for the Institution of Professionals, Managers and Specialists (now part of Prospect).
